The Biz of Baseball: Brown: Cha-Ching! Selig Gets 4% Raise. Made $15.06M Last Year Wow!...Think of all the .357 Magnum ammo R. Budd can now buy! While player salaries haven’t kept pace with the skyrocketing growth of revenues in MLB, one player off-the-field is certainly cashing in. After receiving an extension that will keep him as commissioner of baseball until at least 2012, Bud Selig has been pulling in a nice paycheck to go with. Last year, Selig pulled in $14.5 million, which was more than all other sports executives. Think that the steroid scandal and the Mitchell ...

Bud Gets a Raise

From Maury: After receiving an extension that will keep him as commissioner of baseball until at least 2012, Bud Selig has been pulling in a nice paycheck to go with. Last year, Selig pulled in $14.5 million, which was more than all other sports executives. Think that the steroid scandal and the Mitchell Report have diluted Selig’s worth to his employers, the owners? Think again. The Sports Business Journal reports that Selig had an increase in pay of 4 percent compared to last year, and pulled in a cool $15.06 million. Know what? He deserves it. Sure, Bud leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to style, but ...

Bud Selig Laughs at Roger Goodell's Paycheck
Published 3/10/2008 by Matt Watson at FanHouse
Filed under: MLB BizTake a stab at what Bud Selig made last year. Do you have a number in mind? If your guess was the same as mine, you'll need to double it to even get close. According to the Sports Business Journal (via The Biz of Baseball), Selig raked in $15.06 million last year, making him the highest-paid commissioner in all of sports. You hear the owners complain about player salaries being out of control, and yet Selig made more than all but 10 players last year. Think about that: the man took home more money than Albert Pujols, and for what? The Mitchell Report? An All-Star Game that "means ...

All You Need To Know About The Owners And Selig
Published 3/11/2008 by attackgerbil at Yanksfan Soxfan
... Okay, the title is redundant. The owners had 15 million reasons why they liked him (themselves?) last year, and they liked him (ibid) enough to extend his/their reign through ought-twelve with 4% hike (gotta keep up with cost of livin' dontcha know) this year. It's good to be the Bud, king of beermakers. ...

Only $6.99 Of That Money Was Spent On Haircuts
Published 3/11/2008 by Monday Morning Punter at SPORTSbyBROOKS
Bud Selig is the highest-paid stooge in professional sports. BIZOFBASEBALL.COM (via SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL ) notes that the less-than-dapper commissioner of baseball enjoyed a 4% pay raise last year, out-earning all other sports executives with $15.06 million. That’s a pretty good payday for the former Milwaukee Brewers owner, especially considering all the money he saves with his annual trip to SuperCuts. From SBJ: In total, MLB paid out $85.1 million in employee compensation and benefits for the 236-employee office during the fiscal year, up from $77 million the prior year for 231 employees. The MLB payout of 69 percent of organization revenue in employee ...

Bud Selig Makes How Much?
Published 3/11/2008 by Shinsano at East Windup Chronicle
I guess it shouldn’t be all that surprising given his powerful role in a corporate entity, but 15 million bucks for 2008? From the Biz of Baseball: After receiving an extension that will keep him as commissioner of baseball until at least 2012, Bud Selig has been pulling in a nice paycheck to go with. Last year, Selig pulled in $14.5 million, which was more than all other sports executives.
