Links of the Day 6/26/08
The Victoria Times — Finally, tonight is the night of the draft. Chad Ford had is final mock draft today. Why do teams ever do things like this ? It just seems whiny and petty. I suppose thats the Florida Panthers for you. I was going to go play a round at Interlachen this afternoon, but there is something going on apparently. And I'm not insanely wealthy. NBA Draft: Portland’s Quest for DJ Augustin
The Big Lead — Anyone else stoked about tonight’s NBA draft? It was two years ago tonight that Paul Pierce brushed us off when we tried to play pool at an after party, and we had to settle for getting worked by Carmelo Anthony in a video game. We’ll start TBL after dark around 7 pm tonight, but first … why does ESPN have half a dozen capable NBA writers tracking the draft, and yet they had to chase Adrian Wojnarowski Indy-Toronto deal (strange take on the deal in the Toronto Star, which we found here), and now he’s out front on the Portland-DJ Augustin story? Come on Andy Katz, we know you’re OJ Mayo’s guy, so we fully ...

Draft Day Open Thread
ClipperBlog.com Blog for the Los Angeles NBA Clippers Fans — I was explaining to a Laker fan in my office that, for Clipper partisans, Draft Day is typically our Game 7. So far as the Prognosticators of Mock... Chad Ford has the Clippers selecting Russell Westbrook. DraftExpress and Sam Smith have them going with Eric Gordon. Real GM says the Clips "will be extremely active in the trade market," but will use the pick for Danilo Gallinari. And Broderick Turner in the P-E writes that the Clips want Bayless, but "but fear he'll be gone by the time they select." I ...

What Would the IMU Do?
Some People's Kids — So I'm getting pretty stoked about this draft tonight and I'm been talking to Bez while he slacks off at work. He asked me where I thought everyone would go because I was telling him I though Chad Ford's latest Mock Draft was pretty shitty. It started because of a handful of players being in what I thought was the completely wrong place in the first round, but also because He has the Wolves taking two international players and keeping them over seas in the second round. I've already stated that I think the Wolves should move up, which I'll talk about at the bottom of this, but should they keep those picks what good is it to keep players away from this team ...

Open Thread: The draft
Bullets Forever — ... For what it's worth, Ford has Marreese Speights falling all the way to 25 in his final mock draft.  If we trade down AND got Speights, it would be beyond awesome.  I doubt he lasts that long, though. ...

Pounding The Rock — ... And by "good players," I mean someone that is not going to be stashed overseas for a couple and then not signed or traded for 25 cents on the dollar to a division rival.  There's your NBA draft content.  Oh, and Chad Ford has us drafting ...

Around the City
Mets Prospects Minors Blog | MetsProspectus.com — In Chad Ford's last mock draft he has the New York Knicks selecting Danilo Gallinari of Italy and passing on Russell Westbrook. The New York Giants claimed guard Kurt Quarterman off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons. Sidney Ponson will start the second half of the double header tomorrow night at Shea Stadium. Robinson Cancel of the Mets was DFA and Tony Armas Jr. may soon be called up. Carlos Beltran and Jerry Manuel were fined while Brian Runge was suspended one game.

Draft Night
RedsArmy.com - The Voice Of Celtics Fans — And with the 1st pick, the Chicago Bulls select….Derrick Rose. The Celtics still hold the 30th pick. As of right now, I can’t find any rumors about a potential trade. In Chad Ford’s latest mock draft, the Celtics select Memphis swingman Chris Douglas-Roberts. I’ll have one eye on the draft all night. ...

First Impressions of the 2008 NBA Draft
20 Second Timeout — I am not a big "draftnik"--I much prefer to watch and analyze the players who are already in the NBA--but this year I filled out a mock draft at Yardbarker. Frankly, for someone who does not obsess over the draft I think that I did pretty well, particularly in comparison to some people who spend so much more time researching this subject than I do. I got six of the first eight picks exactly correct and I transposed picks four and seven; I correctly identified nine of the 10 players who would be top 10 selections. In comparison, USA TODAY's Chris Colston only got four of the first eight picks exactly correct, ESPN's Chad Ford got six of the first eight picks exactly ...

2009 Report Card: Donnie Walsh
KnickerBlogger.Net — It was with fanfare befitting a peaceful transfer of power from despotism to enlightenment that Donnie Walsh inherited Isiah Thomas’ job as New York Knicks president of basketball operations in the spring of 2008.  But as with so many European monarchs, African generals, and Spinal Tap drummers before him, the excitement surrounding Walsh’s arrival soon gave way, at least in part, to the grim realization that the pitfalls of previous years had not all departed with his predecessor.  An impossible cap situation, a meddling owner, and a frequently unmotivated core of players were all holdovers from the Isiah era which Walsh has been forced to address, with varying degrees of success. ...

2008 NBA Draft Odds
vegaswatch.net 6/24/2008 — Sportsbook and BetUS have minimal, boring odds up on Thursday's draft. Luckily, Bodog comes through with an extensive selection . While I am trying to determine what is and isn't a good bet, please be advised that my knowledge of the situation ...
Portland adds another first-round pick

Mocking the Blazers (draft week)
blog.oregonlive.com 6/23/2008 — As mentioned in a post earlier, Chad Ford has an updated mock today with some nuggets and a new Blazers pick (should they stand pat): Alexis Ajinca, France 7'1" C In case they do keep the pick, the Blazers have...
FEEL THE POWER.
postingandtoasting.com 6/27/2008 — Danilo Gallinari is here whether you like it or not. I, for one, am coming to terms with a guy who Chad Ford says is "more like Dirk Nowitzki or Toni Kukoc than fellow Italian Andrea Bargnani". That sentiment is echoed by many others. Even before ...
Analyzing the Draft AnalysisBMac's Blog: The Rants of a Basketball Maven
I just read Chad Ford's draft analysis. Unlike some, I generally like the information Ford provides, even though I have no idea how a job as a professor in Hawaii translates into being an NBA insider. I do, however, have a problem with the selectivity with which he likes upside. I just see some incongruity in his analysis, which is common among most who attempt to read the future. He gave the
Clippers Make Contigent Deal With SonicsSportsHubLA
ESPN’s Chad Ford is reporting that the Clippers have swapped picks with the Seattle Sonics to move up in today’s NBA Draft and select Indiana guard Eric Gordon. The trade, however, is contingent on Minnesota selecting USC’s O.J. Mayo. According to Ford, if the T-Wolves do no choose Mayo the trade would be a no-go. [...]
Chad Ford: Sonics and Clippers Swapping PicksESPN.com - TrueHoop
Chad Ford writes : The Clippers and Sonics have agreed to swap picks as long as the Wolves take O.J. Mayo at No. 3. If Mayo isn't drafted at 3, the deal is off according to two sources close to the information. This is one weird deal. I guess the implication is that the Clippers will not get a shot at Mayo. The Sonics have the fourth pick, and the Clippers have the seventh. Having just ...

Chad Ford Says Someone’s Ass ‘Tastes Like Candy’Brahsome - Care To Get Nice?
This whole Shaq-Kobe non-feud has generated a whole new catch phrase for our non-caring, hateful and sarcastic generation: “Taste my ass.” It’s classy with a touch of vulgarity. And it’s far more appropriate, at least in the context of what you can say in society, than say, “suck my D” or “go F yourself”. But none of that means you need to ...

Chad Ford Breaks Up With EuropeFanHouse
We sensed the relationship had become troubled in recent months, but that didn't make the divorce any easier to take. ESPN.com's Chad Ford , the man who gave us Nikoloz Tskitishvili, Pavel Podkolzin, Darko Milicic , Mouhamed Saer Sene and Yi Jianlian , has broken up with Europe. The sad news came in the midst of the second annual Ford- Bill Simmons NBA draft face-off: I call it the Angelina ...

ESPN rumor mongerer Chad Ford is at it again. Last week Ford was speculating that the Bucks want to move up in the draft to "add some star power to their team."  In his mock draft 5.0 today Ford has the Bucks picking Joe Alexander out of West Virginia with their #8 pick. I have developed what can only be called "The Chad Ford Principle." Whatever Ford ...
