Links of the Day 6/26/08
The Victoria Times —
Finally, tonight is the night of the draft. Chad Ford had is final mock draft today. Why do teams ever do things like this ? It just seems whiny and petty. I suppose thats the Florida Panthers for you. I was going to go play a round at Interlachen this afternoon, but there is something going on apparently. And I'm not insanely wealthy. NBA Draft: Portland’s Quest for DJ Augustin
The Big Lead —
Anyone else stoked about tonight’s NBA draft? It was two years ago tonight that Paul Pierce brushed us off when we tried to play pool at an after party, and we had to settle for getting worked by Carmelo Anthony in a video game.
We’ll start TBL after dark around 7 pm tonight, but first … why does ESPN have half a dozen capable NBA writers tracking the draft, and yet they had to chase Adrian Wojnarowski Indy-Toronto deal (strange take on the deal in the Toronto Star, which we found here), and now he’s out front on the Portland-DJ Augustin story? Come on Andy Katz, we know you’re OJ Mayo’s guy, so we fully ...
Draft Day Open Thread
ClipperBlog.com Blog for the Los Angeles NBA Clippers Fans —
I was explaining to a Laker fan in my office that, for Clipper partisans, Draft Day is typically our Game 7. So far as the Prognosticators of Mock... Chad Ford has the Clippers selecting Russell Westbrook. DraftExpress and Sam Smith have them going with Eric Gordon. Real GM says the Clips "will be extremely active in the trade market," but will use the pick for Danilo Gallinari. And Broderick Turner in the P-E writes that the Clips want Bayless, but "but fear he'll be gone by the time they select." I ...
What Would the IMU Do?
Some People's Kids —
So I'm getting pretty stoked about this draft tonight and I'm been talking to Bez while he slacks off at work. He asked me where I thought everyone would go because I was telling him I though Chad Ford's latest Mock Draft was pretty shitty. It started because of a handful of players being in what I thought was the completely wrong place in the first round, but also because He has the Wolves taking two international players and keeping them over seas in the second round. I've already stated that I think the Wolves should move up, which I'll talk about at the bottom of this, but should they keep those picks what good is it to keep players away from this team ...
Open Thread: The draft
Bullets Forever —
... For what it's worth, Ford has Marreese Speights falling all the way to 25 in his final mock draft. If we trade down AND got Speights, it would be beyond awesome. I doubt he lasts that long, though. ...

Pounding The Rock —
... And by "good players," I mean someone that is not going to be stashed overseas for a couple and then not signed or traded for 25 cents on the dollar to a division rival. There's your NBA draft content. Oh, and Chad Ford has us drafting ...

Draft Night
RedsArmy.com - The Voice Of Celtics Fans —
And with the 1st pick, the Chicago Bulls select….Derrick Rose.
The Celtics still hold the 30th pick. As of right now, I can’t find any rumors about a potential trade. In Chad Ford’s latest mock draft, the Celtics select Memphis swingman Chris Douglas-Roberts. I’ll have one eye on the draft all night. ...
First Impressions of the 2008 NBA Draft
20 Second Timeout —
I am not a big "draftnik"--I much prefer to watch and analyze the players who are already in the NBA--but this year I filled out a mock draft at Yardbarker. Frankly, for someone who does not obsess over the draft I think that I did pretty well, particularly in comparison to some people who spend so much more time researching this subject than I do. I got six of the first eight picks exactly correct and I transposed picks four and seven; I correctly identified nine of the 10 players who would be top 10 selections. In comparison, USA TODAY's Chris Colston only got four of the first eight picks exactly correct, ESPN's Chad Ford got six of the first eight picks exactly ...
2009 Report Card: Donnie Walsh
KnickerBlogger.Net —
It was with fanfare befitting a peaceful transfer of power from despotism to enlightenment that Donnie Walsh inherited Isiah Thomas’ job as New York Knicks president of basketball operations in the spring of 2008. But as with so many European monarchs, African generals, and Spinal Tap drummers before him, the excitement surrounding Walsh’s arrival soon gave way, at least in part, to the grim realization that the pitfalls of previous years had not all departed with his predecessor. An impossible cap situation, a meddling owner, and a frequently unmotivated core of players were all holdovers from the Isiah era which Walsh has been forced to address, with varying degrees of success. ...
