Last week, the Tigers ran into a buzz saw at Fenway Park losing 3 out of 4 to the surging Red Sox. This week, they face similar challenges versus the central division leading (by percentage points) Indians and the west division leading Angels at Comerica Park. ... Although, as Lee pointed out, the Tigers outfielders are doing much better than last year, the infield is not converting grounders too well. Anecdotally, I think we can recall many and infield hit and wonder “What the heck?” Whether it’s Carlos Guillen or Brandon Inge booting it, the left side of the infield has been most unspectacular. I think Placido Polanco is doing a fine job. Sean Casey appears to play good defense, but we may be seeing some of the loss of Chris Shelton. Statistically last year, Shelton played quite well at first base against all expectations.
