Championship Drought When was the last time each team won a World Series Championship? Here are the answers...just for fun. Pittsburgh Pirates - 29 years (1979) The Pirates edged the Baltimore Orioles in seven games by hitting .323/.364/.438 as a team. Willie Stargell and Phil Garner each had 12 hits, but Stargell shined with 3 home runs, the only bombs his team would hit. Philadelphia Phillies - 28 years (1980) They defeated the Kansas City Royals in 6 games, where Willie Aikens had 8 hits (4 home runs) and Steve Carlton fanned 17 in 15 innings pitched.
