Wanted: One humongous can of shaving cream
Published 5/8/2008 at Puck Daddy
You must check out Darren Rovell's CNBC blog for a photo of the Gillette Fusion Zamboni that hit the ice for the Boston Bruins' last three games of the year. "And the amazing thing is it really looks like the razor is shaving the ice," said Amy Latimer, senior vice president of sales, marketing and the obvious for the Bruins and the TD Banknorth Garden. Gillette told Rovell there's interest in bringing it back next year if there's a budget for it. Like every good idea, it's been done before: Schick Quattro exhibited its smooth shave via a giant razor on ...

Gillette's Novelty Zamboni Rules

Truth be told though, I'd actually like to see zambonis get even crazier. Like this flaming zamboni below. That would totally rule.

Photo of the Day: Boston's Sharp Promotion

Normally, I tune out advertising much like I tune out the ramblings of a street preacher, but I can appreciate advertising that is well done and unique. For instance, take the Boston Bruins and their Gillette zamboni. According to Gillette's marketing shill, the promotion is very 'cutting edge'. Yuk yuk --- Speaking of Yuk, YUCK! Here's a wacky story about Austria's rugby team. The Austrian Rugby team has responded to their 48-0 thrashing by Lithuania on Saturday by staging a mass striptease in the capital, Vilnius, ...
Delicious Shaved Ice, Or The Zamboni Razor
Published 5/10/2008 at Sports Bastards
... How a Zamboni works is... well, basically it's a floor buffer/scraper designed to smooth out the ice between periods of a hockey game. It sprays down a fresh layer of ice and squeegees it flat, while scraping out the roughness with a different blade. So really, with today's modern razors, there's not much difference what with the lubricating strip, the hair lifting, the multiple blades, and the quest for perfect smoothness. That's why these promotions are brilliant! ...
