Mike Mayock of NFL Network mentioned moments ago that three of six teams with whom he has spoken have Vanderbilt left tackle Chris Williams off their draft boards due to injury, even though he didn’t miss a game in the past three years.
Mayock says that Williams had a “neck and cervix” injury.

One of the storylines heading into Day 2 of the NFL Draft is that the Ravens, after trading out of the eighth pick, moved back up to No. 18 to grab their latest franchise quarterback , Joe Flacco . FanHouse's Josh Alper, like most of us, is skeptical of the selection , but NFL Network's Mike Mayock is here to assuage your concerns, Ravens fans accustomed to mediocre quarterback play. ...Chicago Bears Select Chris Williams

Bears General Manager Jerry Angelo knew coming into the 2008 NFL Draft that their biggest need was at left tackle. He suspected and hoped that Vanderbilt's Chris Williams was available and as it turns out he was. But the trip to his pick was not easy as two other players had caught the Bears fancy. First was Rashard Mendenhall, who was expected to be there at this ...NFL Draft: Chris Williams Plays the Right Position but Is He the Right Guy?

If the Bears weren't already convinced that their biggest need was for an offensive tackle, perhaps it was the Jared Allen trade that sealed the deal. Allen joins Aaron Kampman and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila in the NFC North as players that need to be blocked or else they'll kill your quarterback. When you're going with Kyle Orton or Rex Grossman , you need to limit the potential disasters any way ...2008 NFL Draft: 1.14 Chris Williams, OT, Chicago Bears

OT Chris Williams fills an immediate need for the Bears, and allows the team to move John Tait back to the right side. Williams is a polished pass protector and a sufficient run blocker (that’s the area he needs to work on). Either way, the Bears offense needs help at most positions and strengthening the line is a first step. Fantasy Impact: Williams is NFL ready as a pass protector; ...14. If what you're looking for is a guy who can step in and play left tackle immediately, Vanderbilt offensive tackle Chris Williams might be the best prospect in this year's draft. Jake Long and Ryan Clady are generally regarded as better long-term tackle prospects, but Long is more a run blocker than a pass blocker, and Clady has less experience against top-notch competition. The Bears just ...Chicago Selects...

This should be an offensive tackle. Good pick in Chris Williams. They recognized that running backs can't work without an offensive line front of them. Williams has good pass protect skills, but needs to get stronger. He's hardly a road grader. With the 14th Overall Pick the Bears Choose…….

Is it Chris Williams? Jeff Otah? Or Ryan Clady? I still go with Chris Williams, but with all the possibilities of teams trading up in the first round, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to Jerry Angelo trying to get involved somehow. I sincerely hope that we do not pick any other position with our first pick other than Offensive Line. Whether Angelo trades out of the first round or ...The Fab Five: The Saturday Wishlist

So now not only is Charlotte.com claiming Chris Williams is dropping down draft boards but now Pro Football Weekly is too. Take a read of the reasons that are being sited: The greatest need of the Texans, at No. 18, is a left tackle, and Vanderbilt’s Chris Williams could be available.
