Chris Young: Not great before the facial injury
Friday, July 11, 2008 Chris Young: Not great before the facial injury Posted by Chris Neault at 3:37pm Heading into the 2008 season, San Diego’s Chris Young was perhaps one of the most hyped starting pitchers in fantasy baseball, and with good reason. He was coming off two consecutive stellar seasons that showed him posting some ridiculously low ERA, WHIP and BAA numbers, as well ... [link]

Smells Like Padres in Here - Monday Edition
Published 7/14/2008 by Winfield's Ghost at Gaslamp Ball
And the first half of the season ends in an appropriate way - we get blown out. A statistical look at the first half. Will Venable is getting some attention up in Portland. The Dodgers end a tradition. Here's a breakdown of CY before his face got busted up. The Homerun Derby is tonight, the game is tomorrow.  I'll be interested to see how AG does, but other than that, I don't much care. SLPiH will be on hiatus until the quest for 100 losses begins anew later in the week.

... running out a ground out to third base, but it is not immediately known how much time he will miss, if any. Somehow, Jones has been able to avoid the DL this season, though he has been nicked up often (quadriceps, groin, back). Moving right along, today I’m back to look at a pitcher’s HR/F allowed. Last year, Chris Young led all qualified pitchers in baseball with a 4.1% HR/F, which probably had a lot to do with PETCO. The next guy on the list, though, was Brad Penny, who sported a 4.7% HR/F, which is fairly close to the leaders right now.
