The Yankees need offense and the Barry Bonds rumors are swirling, though they are likely base-less.
New York did make one move Thursday, signing right-handed hitting first baseman Richie Sexson in hopes he can help them against left-handed pitching.
That’s a no-lose move for the Yankees, even though Sexson hit just .218 with the Seattle Mariners this season with 11 home runs and 30 RBI. Wilson Betemit, the Yankees’ switch-hitting backup infielder, is a horrid right-handed hitter (.227 from 2005-2007). ...

WHAT I MEANT WAS NO: Just as the Diamondbacks did last week -- saying strongly they don't want Barry Bonds after waffling for a bit -- the Yankees are now calling Bonds-to-the-Bronx reports "nonsense" (New York Daily News) Even so, the rumors persist.
