Hawks use Zaza off bench

... Hawks coach Mike Woodson said he plans to keep his starting five the same as the past two games, featuring Royal Ivey, Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, Josh Smith and Lorenzen Wright. That leaves former starting center Zaza Pachulia coming off the bench, a role he played to perfection in the Hawks' win over Boston. Pachulia scored 12 points, including a 10-for-10 showing from the free-throw line, while playing 18 minutes. Pachulia's free throws with 2.1 seconds to play provided the winning margin. "I like the way we're starting games with those guys," Woodson said. "We've gotten off to two pretty good starts, and we're going to keep it that way for the time being."

... Hawks point guard Speedy Claxton's sore left knee won't require surgery, but it will need time to heal. "I'm just glad there won't be a surgery," said Claxton, who missed the Hawks' win over Boston on Monday while attending an appointment with noted Birmingham orthopedist James Andrews. "Mentally and physically, I just wasn't ready for anything like that. Surgery would have been the worst-case scenario for me."
