Whatta Curveball!
Greg C. posted 3/12/2008 from slidingintohome.blogspot.com
OK, so it's not Yankee-related, but that's one hell of a curveball. The pitcher is the Dodgers top prospect Clayton Kershaw. He also throws a 95-97 MPH fastball, and he's only 19 (turns 20 on the 19th of March). A Dodger lefty with a 97 MPH fastball and a huge curve, remind you of anyone?Clayton Kershaw's curve ball is Public Enemy No. 1

In my book, a beautiful 12:6 curveball only trails a crispy executed back door pass (preferably done by two unathletic white guys) as the most esthetically pleasing sports plays. There's one curveball that has the Grapefruit league abuzz this week and that's 19-year-old Clayton Kershaw of the Dodger Blue. Joe Torre gave him a shot on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox and as you ...The Dodger Rotation

The news out of the Dodgers’ camp is that their hot pitching prospect, Clayton Kershaw, has been really impressive so far this spring and has been promoted to the major league camp. This is great news, especially when you hear things like this from Matt Kemp: I wish you could see a video of what I saw from center field. He throws that curveball so hard and it snaps 12 to six like ...What A Curve!

I’d just like to say right now to Mr. Kershaw, please don’t go all Greg Miller on us and blow out your shoulder, because if you can do what you do here, you’re going to be a joy to watch for many, many years — so what if it’s Sean Casey, that thing would have fanned Babe Ruth himself. And yes, his curve is called “Public Enemy No. 1.” You need to ...With One Pitch, a Lot of Dudes Develop Man Crushes on Clayton Kershaw

The conventional wisdom is that Dodgers lefty phenom Clayton Kershaw, who still isn’t 20 years old, needs a little more seasoning in the minors before landing at the Ravine. But this pitch, from Sunday’s game in Vero, combined with chilling visions of Esteban Loaiza and Chan Ho Park, have a lot of fans salivating. Straight [...]Clayton Kershaw has a Nasty Curve

If you haven't seen it yet, here's a look at Dodger Minor Leaguer Clayton Kerhsaw's curve ball (it's DodgerThoughts property). It's not often that something like a curve ball is "you tube" enough to hang in the most viewed list. But, man ... Just watch the video. That thing looked too high, was almost too low, and touched every inch of that strike zone. Talk about an out pitch. Great call ...Dodger Thoughts: Martin Released (No, Not Him)

However much the Dodgers said Clayton Kershaw would be moved along slowly, they could resist only so much the Los Angeles Times reported. The day that started with Manager Joe Torre's maintaining that the 19-year-old left-hander wasn't contending for a spot in the rotation ended with his revealing that the organization's top prospect would spend the remainder of the spring in major league ...MLB: Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw promoted to big league camp

"Do I look like I’m negotiating?” Dodgers manager Joe Torre caught himself in mid-sentence, realizing that comparing Clayton Kershaw to Sandy Koufax is exactly what he didn’t want to do. Much virtual ink has been spilled over the managerial acrobatics that will be required to work in all the young talent the Dodgers have developed in the outfield ( Matt Kemp , Andre Ethier ) and infield ( James Loney , the now-injured Andy LaRoche ). A less common topic for soapbox rants is the future of the Dodgers’ young pitchers. Lefty phenom Clayton Kershaw is a consensus top 10, ...Prospects on the Rise...
