I am not sure how people can misconstrue things as badly as they do, but it’s being done. If you read any of the sports writers with integrity, the guys that printed the ENTIRE quote I gave last night, I thought it was clear. Roger Clemens coming to Boston was something none of us in the clubhouse had any control over. No one is a bigger fan of what he’s done than I am. ... [link]

The fact that Schilling would go out of his way to show so much humility after the fact speaks volumes about Francona's pull in the clubhouse, and his calming effect on the team. For that, Sox fans should be relieved -- and grateful.
