Coach Leach and Rapid Cognition Links4
I don't know why I have this incredibly sinking feeling, but I get the feeling that Leach is gone. Keep in mind that I'm not basing this off of any insider knowledge. I'm in the same boat as most of you guys, I don't know anyone important, I'm just a guy with a blog, but I've got a bad feeling about this. I'm reading Blink , by Malcolm Gladwell, it focuses on the idea of "rapid cognition", ... [link]

Texas Tech Tuesday Morning Notes - Fairly Certain That They Haven't Edition
Published 12/4/2007 by Seth C <info@doubletnation.com> at Double-T Nation: Front Page Posts
Double-T Nation News: Last night I mused how my cognitive response to Leach caused me to pause for concern about whether or not he will take the UCLA position, while DTN reader Blitzburgh wrote an excellent response and told us not to worry. In response to Blitzburgh, my only thought is that good jobs on the West Coast don't come open very often, if and when they do, I think Leach is going to take a look, if for no other reason than he likes it in California. ... , who are anxious and concerned about Leach possibly leaving for UCLA. The reaction of fans to their head coaches often tell us all we need to know about their qualities and qualifications to be a good coach. Texas Tech fans are worried about losing Leach, Titans fan don’t care much about Chow. Yet we have bunch of morons in our fan base willing to accept Chow in an arrange marriage scenario with a shameless hack like Walker. ...

Rapid Cognition and Playing Quarterback at Texas Tech
Published 6/5/2008 by Seth C at Double-T Nation: Front Page Posts
Back in December I was finishing up Blink and couldn't help but relate my experience in reading this book with UCLA's coaching search and how it related to Coach Leach. At the time I had a bad feeling about Leach leaving the South Plains and I was wrong, thankfully. A few months later I've picked up and finished Gladwell's ...

Count 'em on one hand: Dorrell firing leaves 5 black head coaches in NCAA D-I football

UCLA fired Karl Dorrell Monday in a move that many saw coming. The Bruins compiled a 35-27 record and reached a bowl in every season under Dorrell's leadership, but above average simply isn't good enough in the Pac-10. What's troubling about this news is the fact that there are now only five black coaches remaining in NCAA Division I football. Out of 119 jobs, five is not enough.
