Pete Newell's "Big Man" camp began with one student: Kermit Washington, who later became infamous for throwing the punch that almost killed Rudy Tomjanovich. Early in his career, Washingon asked Newell to train him to become a better player, Newell accepted the challenge and the rest is history.
