Hutch notes in the Star-Ledger that he has a take on what he thinks happened between the Jets and Laveranues.
… Coles and the organization were nearing a compromise that would result in the veteran reporting this week. It’s unclear what type of agreement was reached, but it is believed Coles was assured he would receive a long-term deal next season if he remained healthy, or he would be allowed to seek a trade on his own.

Maybe there's a happy ending to this after all. Disgruntled wide out Laveranues Coles arrived at the Jets' voluntary offseason conditioning program Tuesday after a week long absence. Word on the street is that the two sides are working toward a new agreement. What that means is anyone's guess, but it's rumored that LC was promised he would receive a long-term deal next year if he stayed healthy this upcoming season. That sounds ridiculous if you ask me.
