Moneyball the Movie?
Bitter Leaf Fan Page —
From Variety : Steve Zaillian has signed on to adapt Michael Lewis’ nonfiction bestseller "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game," and David Frankel is attached to direct. Project is being developed as a potential starring vehicle for Brad Pitt. It's an amazing book, maybe in the movie version they'll have Billy Beane draft a super talented chimp or an irascible golden retriever to make it a bit more Hollywood (I kid. I kid.)
Wait…What?

OK, So…
The book that revolutionized my thoughts on baseball is being made into a movie.

Strange I never really thought Moneyball would make a good movie (nor did I think anyone would want to make it a movie.)
Even stranger is who’s (in talks) to star as Billy Beane….
Drumroll please…….
Brad Pitt.
Yes, that Brad Pitt.
Don’t read it again, your eyes ...
Brad Pitt's Next Movie Will Be ... Moneyball?

Filed under: Athletics, AL West, MLB Gossip, MLB Media WatchFor my money, Michael Lewis' Moneyball is one of the best sports books ever written. In fact, it's one of my all-time favorites regardless of genre. It's captured the whole "scouts vs. stats" phenomenon perfectly, flummoxing hard-core traditionalists (many of whom mistakenly still believe Billy Beane wrote the book). But as much as I love the book, I'm a little shocked at the decision to turn it into a movie: Steve Zaillian has signed on to adapt Michael Lewis' nonfiction bestseller "Moneyball: The Art ...
Moneyball the Movie: Starring Brad Pitt?
NY Sports Dog —
[image] It seems so many years ago that Billy Beane , the club's 1st round pick in the 1980 draft, was the "next big thing" for the Mets . He and Strawberry ( the overall #1 pick in 1980 ) were to anchor the lineup for a decade. So many expectations, so much promise, so little result...his career fizzled and he was soon out of baseball as a player. Then a funny thing happened along the way...Billy Beane found religion, though in this case the religion had numbers as their God. As all baseball fans know, the metamorphosis of Billy Beane was chronicled in one of the great baseball books of all-time, " Moneyball ", by Michael ...
