Our Side Of The Hammel Trade: July Update
The Rays Party — ... and Rays All Day. The Rays traded pitcher Jason Hammel to the Rockies just before the season started in favor of putting Jeff Niemann in the bullpen. Hammel has had some success in Colorado this season with a 3.75 and a 5-4 record. As for the return, the Rays got minor leaguer right-hander Aneury Rodriguez. He had posted good FIPs in three seasons prior to 2009 with all under 3.86. This season hasn't been so kind after moving up to double-A this year with the Montgomery Biscuits. ...
