Buffalo Sabres Managing Partner Larry Quinn and Chief Operating Officer Dan DiPofi have become minority partners. The two executives that rejoined the Sabres in 2003 after B. Thomas Golisano purchased the team in 2003 have been granted the minority stake. As reported by The Buffalo News: “This announcement marks the culmination of a process that really goes back to my original acquisition of the franchise in 2003,” Golisano said in a statement. “Both Larry and Dan were instrumental with regard to my purchase of the Sabres and continue to be an important part of the organization’s success today.” The article further reports that the significance of the change is unknown. Cheeks to Return as Sixers Coach

The Philadelphia 76ers today announced that they have agreed on the terms of a contract extension with coach Maurice Cheeks. As reported on NBA.com, the terms were not disclosed, but the deal extends the current agreement signed in February 2008. The action locks up the services of a head coach that finished fourth in the balloting for NBA Coach-of-the-Year last season, and who has notched a 113-133 record (along with a career 275-272 mark) since taking the job in May 2005.
