Confident and collected Calzaghe made Hopkins eat his words - Boxing
Joe Calzaghe and Bernard Hopkins John Gichigi/Getty Images Calzaghe, right, had to endure some trying moments against a determined Hopkins. LAS VEGAS -- Joe Calzaghe still doesn't know what it's like to see his opponent's hand raised. Since 1990, when he lost an amateur bout in Europe, through an 11-year reign as super middleweight champion, Calzaghe was perfect. He still is, even if Bernard ... [link]

Joe Calzaghe Handily Defeats Bernars Hopnkins
Published 4/20/2008 by Jeff Barrows at New England Sports Blog
After being dropped on the seat of his pants by a straight from Hopkins ( 48-5-1 32 KO's ), Calzaghe ( 45-0 32 KO's ) found his rythym and brought the fight to Bernard all night. Calzaghe won a split decision in the 12 round event.  He was the clearly aggressor and by end of the match,  Calzaghe broke the record previously held by Roy Jones Jr. of the most punches ever landed on Hopkins . The Compubox count was 232.  Hopkins looked as if he may stay in the fight for the first three rounds but then the wheels fell off and Calzaghe took command. Hopkins looking quite fatigued from the onslaught of Calzaghe's flurries so he ...

The Executioner who cried wolf

"We have judges, we have officials. In the end, it's the ...

Joe Calzaghe is white, victorius
Published 4/20/2008 by DCScrap at on 205th magazine: Stuff Guys Like. [Pop Culture For Men]
At one point leading up to the Bernard Hopkins-Joe Calzaghe fight that took place last evening, Hopkins stated that he would "never let a white boy beat me. Never." Hmmmm... Judges Ted Gizma (115-112) and Chuck Giampa (116-111) had it for Calzaghe while judge Adalaide Byrd had it 114-113 for Hopkins. Looks like a white boy did, in fact, beat him. Amazing that Hopkins didn't catch more (read: any) heat for his pre-fight comment. Why is it ok for a non-white person to make a derogatory remark about white people, but if a white person said anything negative about a race, all hell breaks loose? Imagine, if you will, Calzaghe saying he would "never let a black boy beat me. Never." ...
