 Conklin resurrects NHL career
Nine wins, no Tys. Man, if there was a comeback player of the year or month award, Ty Conklin would be right up there. It's like he's had an out-of-body experience, going from can't play to, until last night, can't lose. It's not a leap of faith to suggest that the former Edmonton Oilers goalie may have saved the season for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who were spinning their wheels with goalie ... [link]

Conklin To the Rescue

from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, Nine wins, no Tys. Man, if there was a comeback player of the year or month award, Ty Conklin would be right up there. It’s like he’s had an out-of-body experience, going from can’t play to, until last night, can’t lose. It’s not a leap of faith to suggest that the former Edmonton Oilers goalie may have saved the season for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who were spinning their wheels with goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, before he needed ankle surgery, which put him on the shelf for two months. continued, plus NHL talk from both conferences…

Battle Game Night: All Lowepologies
Published 1/13/2008 by Matt at The Battle of Alberta
I had a couple of good laughs this weekend, courtesy of the tough-but-fair typists at the Edmonton Journal. The Hall-of-Famer wedged this into his Western Conference This'n'That without any further comment: ...The Columbus Blue Jackets want to re-sign ex-Oiler Jan Hejda, who's been their best defenceman, to a long-term deal. Hejda, who's playing with Adam Foote, has been a bargain at $1 million... And David Staples -- geez, I know he's a Lowe fan in general, but making these statements on consecutive days is a bit much. Thursday night: ...all of the Lowe-lynchers out there should take a moment to give Oilers GM Kevin Lowe a moment of ...

It's Always The Same, It's Just A Shame, That's All
Published 1/14/2008 by Staff at The Pensblog
If there's any solace to take from the Atlanta loss, we have the luxury of knowing the Pens still have a points streak going. That one point in Atlanta is gonna be a big deal two months from now. And really just think about how bad its going to feel when Recchi scores in Game 7 of the Eastern conference ...

Must Have Hockey News
Published 1/14/2008 by Tyler at NHL Digest- Hockey News and Equipment Reviews
I wouldn’t believe it if I wasn’t witness to it. Ty Conklin, of all people, may be saving the season for the Pittsburgh Penguins! With all of their superstars and the franchise’s goaltending hopes resting on the back of Marc-Andre Fleury…who comes to the rescue with nice outstanding wins but Ty Conklin. This must feel like sweet revenge for Conklin who has more “write-offs” to his credit than H&R Block. Alanah of Canucks and Beyond voices her opinion of a new “hockey related” series on Canadian television called MVP. I happened to catch a few minutes of the show and completely agree with her opinion: ...

NO PUN INTENDED: 15 minutes...

Steph, my lovely co-blogger, is famous! But first, a little back story. As any of you who have spoken to me lately may be aware, I am in deep psychological pain over the fact that Ty Conklin, the man who has become something of a long-standing running joke on NPI (in the most loving of ways, of course) is basically now filling the bright yellow pads of the starting goaltender role
