... I'm not sure what Streeter means when he says that A-Rod would "ruin [the Angels'] salary structure." The Angels' payroll this year is $109,251,333 (according to this valuable web resource). Assuming everything else stays the same, (because I don't feel like speculating on the entire Angels' '07-'08 offseason turnover) adding A-Rod would bring it up to around $140 million. This certainly ruins the Angels' chances of having another payroll below $110 million, but assuming wealthy owner Arte Moreno can afford the increase, I don't know what other damage it would cause.
