Report: Curtis Granderson to the Disabled List
Published 3/23/2008 by Eric Jackson at D-Town Baseball
... as well.
This has implications beyond who’s manning centerfield for the Tigers but for the Tiger lineup. Curtis had locked down the leadoff spot which now needs filled. I’d like to see Gary Sheffield be placed there since his hitting is in decline but he still is bringing a big OBP to the team. I don’t think that is likely and we’ll see Placido Polanco or Pudge (ugh) instead.
I’m hoping this is an early april fools joke along with speculations of a Dontrelle Willis injury.
Curtis Gets the Finger from the DL

Put the Easter eggs down before you read this. Instead of injury speculation in the previous post, we now have some injury confirmation, courtesy of MLive.com's Danny Knobler. Curtis Granderson was hit on the right hand by a pitch in yesterday's game vs. the Philadelphia Phillies, and the injury was initially thought to be nothing more than a bruise. Unfortunately, after X-rays were taken of Granderson's hand, a non-displaced was found in his right middle finger. According to Knobler, Curtis is expected to be out of the lineup for three weeks. So who plays center field in Granderson's ...
Going the Wrong Way Down Rumor Street?
Published 3/23/2008 by Ian Casselberry <info@blessyouboys.com> at Bless You Boys
So much for a slow Easter Sunday. I thought I sent enough idle speculation up into the Tigersosphere for today, but MLB Trade Rumors is posting a report from the Newark Star-Ledger that says Detroit is trying to entice the Oakland Athletics into trading closer Huston Street. By the end of the note, however, Dan Graziano seems to have embraced the reality of the situation: ...
Will Dontrelle Willis make Jim Leyland apear even sadder?

Jim Leyland observes the Easter holiday with his best Mary Magdalene impersonation ... Interesting stuff going on in Tigertown. Even though the franchise just locked up Miguel Cabrera for the next eight seasons and is the favorite to win the AL Central, the current reason to fret is that Dontrelle Willis might be secretly injured. Nothing's confirmed past some scout scuttlebutt on Buster Olney's blog about "discomfort", but that's not exactly the sort of news Detroit can use, especially without Joel ...

Injuries - left handed pitcher edition
Bless You Boys picked up a Buster Olney report that scouts were speculating that Dontrelle Willis may be injured. That could certainly be part of his control problems. Then again, Willis has battled increasing control issues the last couple years so it may be a continuation of a trend. But it sounded like Tigers scouts were confident that the problem had been licked. But what if it isn’t?
Assignable cause is always nice when trying to identify shifts in ...
The D-Train Wreck
Published 3/26/2008 by Ian Casselberry <info@blessyouboys.com> at Bless You Boys
So if a terrible Spring Training capped off with one final meltdown was enough for Tim Byrdak's services to no longer be required, what's going to happen with Dontrelle Willis after his disastrous outing this afternoon against the powerhouse that is the Pittsburgh Pirates? (Mike McClary already posed this question at The Daily Fungo earlier today, and sent me a fiery text message detailing Willis's meltdown.) Let's survey the crime scene, shall we? In three horrifying innings, Willis gave up seven runs (six earned), eight hits, and four walks. Against the D-Train, it was all Pirates aboard. ...
Another wild day in Lakeland

News has been flying out of the Tigers camp fast and furious lately. Today the main topics of discussion are Dontrelle Willis, Clete Thomas, and Tim Byrdak.
Dontrelle Willis
Willis is struggling. He’s having a heck of a time finding the plate. His problem last year was control, and that had to do with missing his spots. But right now he’s missing the strike zone with 4 more walks, a HBP, and a wild pitch in a miserable 3 inning outing.
I don’t put a lot of stock in spring training numbers, but something is wrong here. It’s at the point in the spring where pitchers have moved beyond ...
