 Cubs Considering Edmonds Links5
According to Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune , the Cubs are "exploring the possibility" of signing center fielder Jim Edmonds .  This was first reported by Bruce Levine of ESPN Radio 1000 yesterday evening. Edmonds, 37, was let go after hitting .178/.265/.233 in 103 plate appearances.  It's hard to say whether Edmonds has anything left.  He did hit relatively ... [link]

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Published 5/12/2008 by Bad Kermit at Hire Jim Essian!
... lot of dumb things in your tenure as the Chicago Cubs’ general manager. You signed Neifi Perez a couple of times. You thought Shawn Estes belonged in a starting rotation. You traded Kyle Farnsworth right after a crap year instead of right after a good year. You ate that whole cheesecake that had been sitting out on the counter for a week, even though I told you that the top shouldn’t feel slimy. I’ve forgiven you for most of those things. But so help you God, if you sign Jim Edmonds, you are dead to me. ...

The Scorecard: Paul DePodesta joins the baseball blogosphere
Published 5/12/2008 at Big League Stew
The big baseball blogosphere news to break over the weekend was the revelation that Paul DePodesta has started his very own blog. Fans of Sabrmetrics are undoubtedly excited over this forum in hopes that he'll go FJM-style on one of Bill Plaschke's columns at a later date. But, really, why shouldn't he have the same outlet that everyone but the Pope seems to have these days? Now a front office man for the San Diego Padres, what DePodesta clearly needs is another distraction as he tries to figure out what the heck is wrong with the Padres.  OK, I'm only kidding. I actually love the fact he knows about ...

... According to MLB Trade Rumors, this deal is all but done. Apparently, the Padres desire some form of revenge for sticking them with Barrett, Prior, Rusch, Estes, Todd Walker, oh how the list goes on over the years. But this is really low, San Diego. Jim Hendry, I can't believe you would sink this low. Is Felix Pie really that bad? Is there no one else who can play center field that we can rescue from the fucking scrap heap? Nyjer Morgan, anyone? Tike Redman? Rajai Davis? Terrence fucking Long? Terrence Long sucks, but at least I like him. ...

... at all close. A few things to hit around the horn: *John Mozeliak apparently is willing to be accessible.  He recently had a chat on MLB.com and today he'll go for his second chat at the PD website.  Somebody ask him when he's getting a blog.  He can join us in the United Cardinal Bloggers! *It's a chat doubleheader at the PD, with Cardinal writer Joe Strauss taking his weekly turn in the tank after Mozeliak's done. *Apparently the Cubs may sign Jim Edmonds.  I think Will Leitch summed it up quite well:  ...
