Kosuke Fukudome Picks the Cubs
FanHouse — ... was going to announce his intention to come to America last night and a decision on where he was going to play would be coming shortly after. Quickly doesn't even begin to cover it. Tonight, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Fukudome has signed a four year contract with the Cubs for somewhere between $45 and $50 million. ...

Welcome, Mr. F*** You Dome!
Siberian Baseball — Oh Lord, will this be great on Opening Day. Sure, a left-handed outfielder who hits for contact and should shore up the middle of the Cubs' lineup - and thus, keeping him out of the dugout on the South Side - is fine and all, but how dope is it to have a starter that can't be announced on television in some southern states? (Yes, I know this is an overplayed joke already, and I promise I'll keep things to a dull roar from now on.) According to the Chicago Sun-Times tonight: The Cubs reached agreement tonight with Japanese free ...

It's Pronounced "koh-skay foo-koo-DOUGH-may"
Bleed Cubbie Blue — ... signed last night to a four-year, $48 million contract. I'm very, very happy. This is exactly the kind of player the Cubs have needed for a long time -- a plus defensive outfielder with a good batting eye who could put up a .390 OBA (maybe in the #2 batting order slot), have midrange power and hit in the .290-.300 area. The money isn't unreasonable in today's market and neither is the length of the deal. Linkage: Bruce Miles, Daily Herald. Gordon Wittenmyer, Sun-Times. Paul Sullivan, Tribune. No fewer than ...

Fuk-U-Do-Me? No, Fukudome. Or just Kosuke.
Home Run Derby — ... .  He’s coming to Wrigley Field .  The Cubs outbid the Padres and White Sox for Fukudome. I can’t wait for 2,000 drunken Trixies in the Wrigley Bleachers to mispronounce “Fukudome” 30 times a game.   As we ...

Welcome To The Fukudome
Foul Balls — The word around baseball was that the Cubs were in the lead to draft Kosuke Fukudome if he came to the Majors, but the way things have been going in baseball this winter, that made me believe this would be the last place Fukudome would end up. Well, you're not going to believe this, but I was wrong. I know, I'm just as shocked as you are, if not more. Fukudome made it official on Tuesday night as the Chicago Sun-Times was the first to report he'd agreed to a deal with the Cubs . The Cubs reached agreement tonight with Japanese free agent Kosuke Fukudome on a four-year deal, ...
