... The Cubs have supposedly inquired about San Diego Padres shortstop Khalil Greene. The Padres won't be trading Greene though, because he sucks. No really, that's the reason. Greene is batting .216/.264/.329 at the break. His trade value is so low right now, the Padres refuse to trade him. ...

The San Diego Union-Tribune says the Cubs "recently asked about Khalil Greene." Might they realize they'll have to play defense up the middle, should they be allowed to play baseball in October?

With the non-waiver trade deadline just around the corner, the rumor mill should be in full swing over the next few weeks.
