The strangest thing about the Bulls making a push to acquire D’Antoni is the fact that Bulls GM John Paxson is a long-time friend of Suns GM Steve Kerr from their running days with the Jordan era Chicago Bulls. [link]

Kerr should do everything he can to keep D'Antoni. Nash will still be brilliant, but he will definitely be the most affected by D'Antoni leaving, and taking his free flowing offense with him.

I hope D'Antoni stays. At least give this Shaq experiment one full season to see what happens. Shaq didn't win the title in Miami his first season there either. Took one year to get it right.

Good coach but his style never wins it all.   I would be interested in seeing one full year of Shaq with coach and the gang though.

Oddly Timed Shaq Assessment From Kerr
It had seemed to me that Steve Kerr had done a masterful job playing the PR game in the wake of the Suns' acquisition of Shaquille O'Neal earlier in the season. He initially declined to mention that his coach had (reportedly) pushed for the trade and that he was the last one to sign off. Instead, Kerr kept the front unified and admitted that he knew he'd look like a genius if the trade ...
The Mike D'Antoni Saga Might-Get-Fired Saga Will Drag on Into the Weekend
If that headline seems negative, it's only because I think that if Steve Kerr doesn't plan on keeping Mike D'Antoni as head coach of the Phoenix Suns -- and that's t he way I'm leaning right now -- then why lead him on? On the other hand, he's already gotten D'Antoni to wave his hand and claim the Shaquille O'Neal trade, so with the Daddy on the hook for another $20 million next year, maybe ...

Jack McCallum, Wrong About D'Antoni? Pssh
There has been a current of pushback against Jack McCallum's SI blockbluster today , with Steve Kerr offering up statements like " There's no truth to that " when asked about Mike D'Antoni 's impending departure. Kerr (and local beat writers ) want to make it seem like McCallum's story is errant, like it's a Peter Vescey invention . But isn't the identity of McCallum's source plainly ...
