When you're recognized as "the guy" (here meaning a generic term for MVP, MOP, etc. of a major sporting event) you are required to talk to media members. When you do that, you better believe that you gotta throw props to peeps, homeys, mom, dad, your boy Ray-ray, whatever. If you fail to do this, you have wasted your time in front of the camera.

... Another key to Memphis' success, or at least a product of it: An absolutely ideal shoutout by Derrick Rose.
In his postgame interview with Billy Packer, Rose politely asked to
give a shoutout and did so without waiting for Packer's permission.
Rose then managed to say hi to his Mom (awww), to say word to his hood
(Englewood stand up!) and to pay homage to a dead friend (R.I.P. -- we
still love you). It was well-rounded and perfectly executed. Even Jim
