News nor the Fort Worth Star-Telegram have confirmed Stein’s report, but Stein has historically been very well in tune with events involving the Mavericks, and I do give this report a fair amount of credibility. With that said, I’m not going to get into the possible effects of this trade until I hear of some confirmation by the Dallas-area media. I’ll have much more on this later on.

... verbally agreed to the deal earlier Wednesday and were preparing to submit the trade for league approval when George informed the Mavericks that he wouldn’t consent to being included in the deal, which is his right based on a rare provision in his one-year contract.”
I had heard of this provision in George’s contract before all of this, but I never thought he would actually make use of it. I guess I was wrong.
