Graziano's Latest: Sherrill, Arroyo, Rhodes, Zaun
Published 7/25/2008 by Tim Dierkes at MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
Dan Graziano of the Newark Star-Ledger has a new Trade Winds column.
Graziano notes how incredible the Erik Bedard trade could look for Baltimore if they spin George Sherrill for prospects. He names the Cardinals, Rays, Marlins, and Red Sox as suitors. The Mets fear Sherrill's price tag, while the Yankees ...
Friday Morning Rockpile:
Published 7/25/2008 by Rox Girl at Purple Row
... So everybody was abuzz yesterday about the whispers that Roy Halladay might be available. Halladay is certainly in a camp of player that is worth giving up a lot of talent for. Everything seems to be pointing that the Jays will look more intensely at moving him during the winter, so there's time, but I just want to say that I certainly wouldn't mind if the Rockies were a little more in on those discussions than they were with Danny Haren this past offseason. ...
Rays Connected to Sherrill
Published 7/25/2008 by R.J. Anderson at DRaysBay
Per Dan Graziano the Rays, amongst others, have interest in Orioles reliever George Sherrill.(Hat tip to MLBTR):
Talk about a turnaround. This wasn't even the top guy Baltimore got in the Erik Bedard trade, but here he is, atop the wish lists of several teams looking for left-handed relief help. Teams connected to Sherrill include the Cardinals, Rays, Marlins, Red Sox and others. The Mets would love to be in the sweepstakes, but they fear the price will be too high. The Yankees would love it too, but they don't think Baltimore will deal him ...
Updates: Washburn, Beltre, Rhodes
Published 7/25/2008 by Jon Shields at Bleeding Blue and Teal
Joel Sherman says that Kei Igawa isn’t in the proposed Jarrod Washburn deal, and the New York Yankees will require Seattle to pay some of Washburn’s contract, rather than taking on Igawa’s. Jon Heyman reports Seattle is asking for both Melky Cabrera and Brett Gardner, not one or the other as I assumed yesterday. Dan Gaziano (linked below) throws Justin Christian’s name out there along with Cabrera and Gardner’s, though he probably shouldn’t be someone Seattle is interested in, at least not as the primary player. ...
Vernon Wells: Trailblazer - And Other Unsubstantiated Innuendo
Published 7/25/2008 by noreply@blogger.com (Stoeten) at Drunk Jays Fans
During halftime, the concourses at BMO Field get packed to the tits with people lining up for $12 beer, and to use bank machines so that they can take out more money so that they can buy more $12 beer. It's damn near impossible to navigate your way through the crowd... unless you're me and you're creepily following in behind the path laid by the greatest limping trailblazer this side of Bill Walton: Vernon Wells. The concourse crowd at Thursday night's MLS All-Star game opened up for VW like they were a drunk girl on a date to the ballgame with Parkes, and I made it from one end of the stadium to the other in what I presumed must have been some sort ...
Oh, Shut up.
Published 7/26/2008 by halejon at The Mockingbird
I don’t even want to waste text on this, but since blogs generally are accused of starting stupid rumours, it’s time to give a little back (Via Les Drunks):
The whispers just won’t go away. Halladay is apparently unhappy in Toronto and has let management know it, and management has apparently responded by doing some ...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)—Edwin Jackson surpassed his victory total for last season and Tampa Bay snapped a seven-game road losing streak.
The Rays, who moved one game in front of Boston in the AL East, won on the road for the first time since June 29, at Pittsburgh.
Jackson (6-7), who was 5-15 last season, did not yield a hit until Billy ...
Yankees Still In Talks For Washburn
Published 7/26/2008 by Alejandro Leal at MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
Updating a rumor that seems to have died down in the last few days, the Yankees and Mariners are still having serious discussions about Jarrod Washburn, reports Dan Graziano.
Up until a few days ago, the Yankees wanted to include Kei Igawa and Melky Cabrera in the deal but the Mariner's didn't ...
Manny Can Be Manny Somewhere Else: Epstein
Published 7/27/2008 by Jeff Kallman at The MLB Source
The Olde Towne Team has had it at last with Manny Being Manny. And, if he’ll waive his no-trade clause, they’ll trade him. That’s what general manager Theo Epstein told Tim McCarver during Fox Sports’ broadcast of the proceedings at Fenway Saturday night.
The question is whether he’ll find suitors after his latest rounds, including shoving the Red Sox traveling secretary over a last-minute bid to cop some tickets for an interleague set in Houston, and sitting out two critical games claiming an unexpected sore knee.
Those suitors won’t be the New York Mets, who can use the outfield help and whose GM Omar Minaya tried ...

Published 7/28/2008 by Andrew Beaton at Hot Foot
According to Robert Macleod of Globe Sports, Blue Jays LHP Brian Tallet was placed on the 15 day DL with a broken toe on his right foot. He is expected to miss at least three weeks. According to some reports, such as from Dan Graziano in the Star-Ledger, the Mets had expressed interest in trading for Tallet.
