Rangers eek one out in Toronto
Baseball is My Boyfriend —
Bullpen management has been a question mark in Ron Washington's tenure with the Rangers. Tonight, in Toronto, he made the right decisions, and although they didn't immediately look wise, they worked out in the end.
First things first, though -- Roy Halladay. The Toronto ace came into tonight's game with a 3-0 record and a 3.00 ERA. He has struggled against the Rangers historically. He has a 7-6 record vs. Texas and a 5.34 ERA, his highest of any team he's faced more than four times.
Rangers bats wasted no time knocking Halladay around. Nelson Cruz delivered a two-run bomb in the 2nd, Chris Davis drove Hank Blalock home in the 5th and Ian Kinsler added another two runs on a homer in the 7th. ...

Baseball Time in Arlington —
Confronted by a game situation roughly six times more critical than the average game situation with his team precariously clinging to a 5-4 eighth-inning lead in Toronto, Texas Rangers closer Frank Francisco offered a rare glimpse of vulnerability ... and then responded with five outs in six plate appearances, affirming the impregnable right-hander's dominance and efficiency.
Right-hander Brandon McCarthy's six adventure-filled frames of three-run baseball comprised his best single-start average fastball velocity (91.25 mph) since early 2007, a steady diet of strikes (62.9 percent), the well-documented change-up/slurve tandem that remains so tantalizing but inconsistent and a ridiculous ...
