Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the San Francisco 49ers have cut wide receiver Darrell Jackson . The move brings to a quick end the short, disappointing San Francisco stop on Jackson's career journey. After being traded to the 49ers last year, Jackson started 15 games in San Francisco in 2007 but caught just 46 passes for 497 yards. Jackson had previously played seven seasons ...49ers release WR Darrell Jackson; changes outlook for team and draft

The 49ers have released wide receiver Darrell Jackson. With the recent signing of Bryant Johnson, this leaves the team with Arnaz Battle, Isaac Bruce, Ashley Lelie, and Jason Hill to compete for the starting jobs. This looks like enough for the team not to pursue a possible wide receiver in the draft. But now, with Jackson gone, the Niners are trying to figure out what's the next step.Could Jackson fit in with the Bills?

Matt Maiacco, The Press Democrat The 49ers continue to search for answers at wide receiver. It is one area of the 49ers' roster in which Scot McCloughan and Mike Nolan have really struggled since coming on board in 2005. With their release of Darrell Jackson today, the 49ers officially admitted their failure in giving up a fourth-round draft pick to acquire his services a year ago. That was a nice waste of a fourth-round pick by the 49ers with their release of Darrell Jackson. Last year, the Niners traded their fourth-rounder in the draft to obtain Jackson. Of course, they didn’t make the trade with the anticipation of releasing him a year later, but between that and this year’s first-rounder that was traded last year to move up to select Joe Staley, the Niners have ...49ers Waive Darrell Jackson

The Darrell Jackson era in San Francisco ended a year after it began. Jackson, who came to San Francisco from Seattle, has been released. He recorded 46 receptions and three scores last season. The 49ers have added Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson this off-season, leaving Jackson as the odd man out.
