The Machine Takes Down Vegas at the End of the Western Conference Finals

... So, um, that would be fairly brutal. Of course, not as brutal, as Darren Rovell points out, as things got in Vegas. Rovell had covered a similar topic before, so The Machine's shot stood out as particularly painful to him. Even more so when he found out how much cash got dropped. So I called R.J. Bell of Pregame.com who is really good at number crunching, to ask him how much Vujacic cost those that took the Spurs. Bell said that, from looking at betting data he had access to, that 66 percent of people took the Spurs and the 7.5 ...

... Sasha Vujacic's meaningless three-pointer at the buzzer meant a lot to sports gamblers -- it was the difference between the Spurs covering the spread and not. By one estimate, that meant hundred of millions. That's about what an NBA team is worth. On that stupid shot. Wow. There's a lot about this world we fans don't understand fully. ...

Vujacic’s Last-Second Shot Vs. Spurs Vexes Vegas
Published 5/30/2008 by jason at SPORTSbyBROOKS
... Darren Rovell of CNBC rolls up news that Vujacic’s meaningless last-second shot Thursday night may have cost bettors up to $ 100 million in losses . The Lakers were just moments away from sending the Spurs out of the playoffs, up 97-92 and with possession of the ball. But instead of dribbling out the remaining seconds, Vujacic decided to heave up a three before the clock read zero: The basket went in, the crowd cheered, and the Lakers finished with a 100-92 victory. But those with money on the game, Sasha’s shot had them seething: While Vujacic’s taking of the shot was a joke ...
Boston vs. Detroit Game 6

... 18 points in Game 5 but all 18 came off of 3-pointers (6-of-9). Rasheed attempted only three shots from inside the arc.
If Rasheed struggles with his shot or fails to establish himself down low and the Celtics jump out to an early lead, it will be interesting to see if Wallace can remain composed. He picked up his 6th technical foul of the playoffs in Game 5. Each additional technical carries a one game suspension from here on out.
If the Pistons are outed tonight, you can bet that they’ll be fireworks.

... However, the fact that everyone knows it and Vujacic continues to wear it is cool. For example when I was in college one of the guys I played football with wore gloves when he lifted. Everybody made fun of him. But unlike other guys who wore gloves once this guy continued to rock them. He’d say stuff like "I wear them when I’m with your girlfriend too." Gotta respect that kind of confidence. Of course you have to respect Vujacic’s defense, outside shooting and hatred of gamblers even more. He’s currently my pick for random guy on the Lakers that Celtics ...
