Published 9/4/2008 at FanHouse
Filed under: Dolphins, Raiders, VikingsDaunte Culpepper announced his retirement today after nine seasons in the NFL. He expressed his frustrations with the NFL in his retirement letter: When Free agency began this year, I had a new sense of excitement about continuing to rebuild my career in the same way that I had rebuilt my knee after my catastrophic injury in 2005. Unfortunately, what I found out was that the league did not share any of the optimism about me as an Unrestricted Free Agent that I expected. In ...

From Daunte Culpepper’s retirement letter to the NFL:“Unfortunately, what I found out was that the league did not share any of the optimism about me as an Unrestricted Free Agent that I expected.” Fine whatever, Daunte, just keep it to a dull roar and I promise to watch your inevitable appearance on Pros Vs. Joes next season, even if that show doesn’t want you either and you have to compete as a Joe. But be warned. Norm Chalton will put one in your ear if you try to do that stupid arm rolling celebration bullshit.

... should have given Daunte a look? With Brady’s injury status uncertain, Culpepper could throw to Moss again…kinda like the only productive period of his career. We also love when these self-important athletes feel the need to ‘retire’ because nobody wants them. Once again, we at Clubhouse Cancer would like to formally announce our retirement from the NFL. Goodbye, cruel football world! Here is Culpepper’s ‘retirement’ letter, as posted on ProFootballTalk: Farewell NFL ...
Culpepper Can’t Capture A QB Job, Calls It Quits
Published 9/4/2008 by Fornelli at SPORTSbyBROOKS
... The reason behind Daunte’s decision to hang them up is that he can’t find a job in the NFL, or at least, not one that he deems worthy of him. Apparently the man who took the NFL by storm in 2000 with the Minnesota Vikings and had many thinking he would revolutionize the way the quarterback position is played, still thinks he’s the greatest quarterback of all time. He released the following letter, via PROFOOTBALLTALK : When Free agency began this year, I had a new sense of excitement about continuing to rebuild my career in the same way that I had rebuilt my knee after my ...
DAUNTE CULPEPPER RETIRES; ISN'T ROLLING ON

I've always said, if you are going to go out, go out with a bang.... And by bang Daunte, I mean Lake Minnetonka style.... An excerpt from his retirement release via ProfootballTalk The decision I made in 2006 to represent myself rather than hire an agent has been an invaluable experience. I now understand why so many people within the NFL community are uncomfortable with a player really learning the business. The NFL has become more about power, money and control than passion, competition and the love of the game. Regardless ...
And Now a Word From Daunte Culpepper

... In NFL news, Daunte Culpepper retired today - disillusioned and apparently believing that the NFL conspired against him and denied him a chance to rebuild his career. We know this, because he e-mailed a retirement letter to the NFL Network's Adam Schefter - which can also be seen on Pro Football Talk. ...

Rod Marinelli "fully expects" new Lions running back Rudi Johnson to play on Sunday.
The Lions are 21st in FOX Sports' pre-kickoff power rankings.
The NFL is acknowledging Chad Johnson Ocho Cinco by his new name. Ocho Cinco is what the back of Chad's jersey will read on Sunday, and you can bet his new jersey will sell like hotcakes when it goes on sale.

... yesterday while saying that he's been unfairly kept out of the NFL. While there's perhaps some truth to his complaints, at the end of the day he was a shell of his former self after a major knee injury in 2005. It's tough to come back from that as a 275-pound running quarterback who never made the world's greatest decisions as a passer, but for a brief window he was pretty spectacular. ...

Why the Culpepper Signing Makes Sense
Published 29 days ago by Kyle Vasatka at IWS Sports Blog
... Culpepper claimed in his farewell letter that he was not welcomed by any teams to compete for a roster spot, as a starter or a back-up. All indications are that the Lions’ starting QB spot is his, assuming that he is in playing shape and has his head straight. He’s being given the opportunity that he said wasn’t available during the off-season. ...
