Boston Red Sox pitcher David Aardsma was excited to come home to the Houston area to pitch in the weekend interleague series between the Sox and the Astros. Aardsma grew up in the area and even was the closer on the 2003 College World Series champion Rice University team.
To top it all off, his pop Dave was set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game at Minute Maid Park ...

Memo to Astros: Father-son pitch not end of the world

... major leaguer Floyd Bannister to throw out the first pitch to his son Brian, a pitcher with the visiting Royals. As far as I know, Floyd has no ties with the D'backs other than being an area resident and a pitching legend at Arizona State. So the next time Aardsma comes to Houston, no matter what jersey he's wearing, Astros management should be required to watch this* and then fix the silly mistake they just made. A big BLS head nod to Walkoff Walk for the tip. *Sure is dusty in here for a Monday morning, isn't it?
