... . David DeJesus also does well placing 17th overall at +3.14 by scoring well once again in advancing on hits. In 2004 he was at +1.59 and in 2005 +2.98. He continues, however, to a very poor percentage baserunner despite taking few opportunities and is now -2.59 for his three seasons in 70 opportunities. Somewhat surprisingly

... My second disagreement is that DeJesus would need to move to a corner outfield spot, even if he lost another step or two. That -14 UZR Bradford mentioned is certainly below average. That puts him, what, about 20th, 25th among center fielders? We’ll say he’ll cost the Royals 15 runs for the next several years. He’s still creating 5.6, 5.7 runs per game offensively (if we assume he’ll be hitting at his ‘05 and ‘06 levels). He finished seventh in

Saturday, October 06, 2007 (10/06/2007 08:12:00 PM) - Al MLB Trade Rumors thinks Dave Dejesus might be made available, though I have no idea why KC would deal him. You could make an argument for the Crew wanting both he and Dave Riske, the other vet mentioned. Would Dejesus fit the "professional hitter" description? his numbers are here ...he is just a bit above average for a CF, and his walks were up in 2007, though just ok for his career. ...

... Did he forget the Tigers already traded for Jacque Jones?  Or was that move too under-the-radar to be noticed?  And this seems to be the first we've heard of any interest in David DeJesus.  Where would the Tigers play him?  Left field?  If so, what happens with Jones?   ...

Winter is the time for caravans... and road trips for a displaced fan
Published 1/22/2008 by Deaner at Blue Collar Baseball
I caught the Royals winter caravan as it came through town yesterday and had a great time. I met former Royals pitcher Dennis Leonard and current Royals Billy Butler, David DeJesus, and Joey Gathright, along with broadcast personalities Fred White and Steve Sullivan (formerly of the Reds). I got my picture taken with Sluggerrr and I also got to speak with GM Dayton Moore for about 3 minutes. Everyone was very friendly and willing to give autographs and chat it up with fans. Dayton Moore talked to me for a bit ...

Royals Should Trade for Juan Pierre
Published 4/18/2008 by Jeff Moore at Dugout Central
... The Royals continue to hope he will blossom into a star after having given him an extension in 2006 (that can extend as far as 2011), but at 28 years old, and with a strong injury history, he is not someone the Royals should count on as a part of their future. When he is out of the lineup, he leaves too big a hole in two very important positions (centerfield and leadoff). His comparables, which include Reed Johnson and Marlon Byrd, do not bode well for him becoming a star either. His backup, Joey Gathright, is simply not an everyday player. ...

Projecting the Royals' 2009 Offense with Bill James (Not Really, Though)
Published 18 days ago by devil_fingers at Royals Review
... David DeJesus may look like he's getting the shaft here, but projections can't simply pretend 2007 didn't happen. He's also hurt by poor basestealing -- STOP SENDING HIM, TREY. A lot of this depends on his defense. If he's still around an average defensive CF or even above average in LF, then he's an very good player that many fans don't appreciate.  People don't but this, but even as an average defender in LF this sort of offense is still around average... which leads to ...
