For the 4th start in a row, the Boston Red Sox got some great pitching from their starter on the mound. And for the second night in a row, they won the game with a walk-off single. Last night’s hero was Jason Varitek who brought in Manny Ramirez from second base. The hero could have been Brandon Moss but Jed Lowrie was gunned down at home plate by Vernon Wells in the at-bat before Varitek. Daisuke Matsuzaka looked good on the mound again. He wasn’t nibbling when he got ahead in the count, instead he was attacking the strike zone. He had excellent command of his fastball which helped set up his breaking pitches.
