Meet Oscar Pistorius of South Africa. His legs were amputated before he turned 1 year old, but he's faster on his prosthetic legs than most people in the world. So fast that he could well qualify for the 2007 Summer Olympics in Beijing, but likely won't be allowed in regardless due to official concern over techno-doping.
