It was assumed the Pistons would only keep 13 or 14 players on the roster instead of the allowable 15 as a way to save money. Three guys -- Washington, Chucky Atkins and Maceo Baston -- came into camp without guaranteed deals, and it was assumed Atkins and Baston would both be waived at some point.
