Designated hitter spot producing little for Angels - Los Angeles Times
The Angels are having rotation problems. No, not that rotation. The plan to rotate three players through the corner outfield and designated hitter spots has helped keep Garret Anderson , Gary Matthews Jr .and Vladimir Guerrero relatively sound, but it has completely marginalized the DH position. Entering Wednesday's game, Angels designated hitters, as a group, ranked last in the American ... [link]

Angels’ top prospect Nick Adenhart to make major-league debut
Published 5/1/2008 at BBTF's Baseball Primer Newsblog
Angels’ top prospect Nick Adenhart to make major-league debut Because he can’t be any worse than Dustin Moseley… Nick Adenhart, the 21-year-old right-hander who is the Angels’ top pitching prospect, will make his major league debut tonight against the A’s on three days rest. Adenhart, who was recalled from triple-A Salt Lake after Wednesday night’s game, is 4-0 with an 0.87 earned-run average in five starts, including Sunday’s win over Fresno, in which he gave up an unearned run in eight innings and threw 98 pitches. Scioscia said Adenhart, who underwent reconstructive ...

Designated Missers
Published 5/1/2008 by Geoff Young at Baseball Digest Daily
Mike DiGiovanna at the Los Angeles Times notes that the Angels aren't getting much production out of the designated hitter spot so far. Garret Anderson, Gary Matthews Jr., Vladimir Guerrero, Juan Rivera, and Torii Hunter have combined to hit .177/.266/.257 through the first month of the season. I'm assuming this will work itself out one way or another (everything does, if you think about it). The Angels could always trade for Micah Owings or whatever. Anyway, the weird part to me is that Matthews is logging so much time at DH. Did the Angels seriously believe he was worth $50 ...

Adenhart set for debut
Published 5/1/2008 by Eric Stashin at Rotoprofessor
Nick Adenhart According to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times (click here for the article), Los Angeles Angels prospect Nick Adenhart is set to make his major league debut tonight, replacing Dustin Moseley in the rotation.  The article says that according to Angels manager Mike Scioscia, Adenhart will “probably make three starts”. Adenhart has been great thus far at AAA, going 4-0 with a 0.87 ERA in 5 starts.  He has allowed 18 hits and walked 15, while striking out 19, over 31 innings.  The walks have to be a cause for concern, as he could run into trouble if he ...
