Rob0N Good article, I am curious to see how states compare to each other. An argument can be made for several states, and it would be interesting to see where Michigan stacks up with MSU basketball, Michigan Football, several College Hockey teams, GVSU Football...don't forget those Shock either. Ranking states would be tough because states like California, and Texas have several pro teams in each sport, when most states have 1 team, and some dont have any. -
Atma Brother #1 What a joke. After that Motor City Brawl in the Palace, Auburn Hills shouldn't even be allowed to have an NBA team. Worst fans in the NBA. Barbarians.-
Atma Brother #1 Oooh, I should add Matt W and Natalie are good folks. 2 of the best in the hoops blogosphere.-
Need4Sheed Atma..thanks I feel the same way about you too but come on Barbarians??

TheHype ouch!
Sure the couple of rotten apples here and there stains the city's rep a bit, but with smart fans like Matt W. and Natalie (DBB.com and N4S.com--btw getting to guest blog on NBA.com!) we should cut them a bit of slack ...
That.. or a mega arm wrestling match between opposing team fans! YEAH!

Rob0N Worst fans in the nba? Detroit has lead the league in attendance 2 out of last 3 years...the palace is one of the toughest places to play because of the fans-
Atma Brother #1 I can only imagine how tough it is for other NBA teams coming into the Palace. Not only do they have to worry about matching up against a very solid team, but they also have to deal with the constant fear of getting things thrown at them from the fans or fights errupting out of nowhere.
The Pistons-Pacers brawl wasn't the only time this happened. Not too long after that infamous melee, a Pistons fan through some change at Allen Iverson from the stands. Sorry, Pistons fans might come out in doses, but there's no way anyone can claim that they are classy or even civil.
The Pistons fans at the game that day got off way too easy in that Pacers brawl. Commish Stern should've banned all Pistons fans from the Palace in Auburn Hills for 5 games for that nonsense and had then play in an empty arena. (Haha, well I guess it's easy for me to say that when it's not my money being lost.)

fuzzylogic pistons fans no doubt have love for their team and care about their team, but when does proving one's allegiance mean condoning disrespectful behavior?
heckling has been in sports since forever but there's got to be a limit (i.e. the Orlando fan who disrespected Mutumbo with some messed up racial slurs or throwing beers/change at opposing teams stars or harassing a player's wife and family). Because youre a paying does not mean it grants you (all fans) unlimited privileges wherever you go.
case in point, i attended a Pistons game and midway through the third quarter, the jumbo tron featured a PSA that had to remind fans to NOT fight with players or with other fans! No joke! i think this tells you something about Piston's fans when the stadium has to remind them like someone's parent to behave themselves. does that not strike any fan as being somewhat ridiculous?

Erin Well, if the activity on Ballhype reflects sports fans in general, the three top stories right now are about Michigan sports. Most users apparently took the weekend off for the holiday - thanks for sticking with us, Detroit! (And all others who logged in this weekend.)
