With quarterback Drew Stanton out for a month with a thumb injury, the Detroit Lions have signed quarterback Drew Henson . Henson is a former Michigan quarterback who picked baseball over football, and who then wasn’t very good at baseball and decided to play football. He actually appeared in seven games for the Cowboys in 2004, starting one of them. The Cowboys cut him loose during training camp in 2006. He spent some time with the Vikings in 2006, but never appeared in a regular-season game. In 2007, the Vikings signed him again, but he was cut in August. The Detroit Lions have signed former Vikings quarterback and failed New York Yankees prospect Drew Henson. Yes, they’ve signed him as a football player. Not as a scout or a coach or one of those guys who unkinks the cord to the coach’s headset during the game. Another Detroit QB named Drew, Stanton, sprained his thumb in practice and will be out a month, necessitating the addition of a warm body to the roster.
