 DEVIN HESTER A HOLDOUT Links1
The Bears signed all their draft picks and gave Brian Urlacher the contract he wanted, but they still weren’t able to open a holdout-free training camp. Kick returner and wide receiver Devin Hester refused to show up for the opening practice and is staging a holdout because he’s unhappy with his contract, Mike Mulligan of [...] [link]

Bears Primary Scoring Threat Devin Hester Calls in Sick on First Day of Work
Published 7/24/2008 at FanHouse
... holes at virtually every offensive skill position, Hester was sure to get more touches, primarily from the wide receiver position. Assuming the two sides can come to an agreement, nothing should change -- Hester will remain the Bears' primary scoring threat -- and since the organization was already working on a new contract, I can't imagine the holdout lasts. It's just too bad Hester won't get a legit shot to win the QB job. That coulda been fun. Hat tip: PFT   Permalink | Email this |  ...

Devin Hester Is A Chicago Bears Camp Holdout

I hate NFL training camp holdouts, but every now and again there is one that's justified. Rookies, who have yet to play a single down, holding out for that extra .2 million when they haven't earned a dollar yet in their career might be the most ...

Devin Hester Ends Shortest Holdout in NFL History, Reports to Bears Training Camp
Let me take you back 24 hours, when Devin Hester, return dude extraordinaire, declared that he wasn't playing for $445,000 this season . He's worth way more than that, and until the Bears gave him a new deal, he wasn't showing up for work. It's a popular strategy for disgruntled players looking for more money, and one that seldom works ( Devin, Lance. Lance, Devin ). Not so much because ...

Devin Hester Finally Ends Extremely Long Holdout
After two days of sobbing uncontrollably into their mustaches, Bears fans can smile and eat their deep dish pizzas topped with polish sausages and sauerkraut again: Devin Hester is finally back in camp ! The CHICAGO SUN-TIMES reports that Hester’s two-day holdout ended as abruptly as it began this morning, when the wily return man “reported at breakfast this morning, in ...
What changed Hester's mind?
Posted by ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert Tom Dahlin/Getty Images Devin Hester ended his brief holdout Friday morning. BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- Barring a change of plans, the Chicago Bears' best playmaker will be on the field at 3 p.m. CT. Devin Hester , who said Wednesday he would be willing to sit out the rest of the season in a contract dispute, is here and ready to practice .  ...
Hester holdout hurts him and Bears, and he apparently realized that Friday
No one argues that Chicago Bears return star and now also full-time-receiver Devin Hester is underpaid, as he is in the third year of his four-year rookie deal that pays him less than $450,000. Hester has become the best return man in NFL history, with 11 kick returns for touchdowns in two seasons, a total that ranks fourth best in NFL history (and that doesn’t include his return of a ...
Davis flashes speed, big-play ability on practice field
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Training camp holdout Devin Hester evidently isn’t the Bears’ only speedy cornerback-turned-receiver capable of stretching the defense and making big plays.
HESTER HINTS AT A FULL-SEASON HOLDOUT
In any negotiation, credibility is important. And Bears receiver/returner Devin Hester is taking a risk that he’ll have none in his current dispute with the Chicago Bears. Because Hester says that he’s prepared to sit out the entire season, and that makes no sense at all. “It’s time for me to take a stand,” Hester told the [...]
HESTER SITUATION IS FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT SYSTEM SHOULD CHANGE
The unexpected holdout of Bears receiver/kick returner Devin Hester illustrates the flipside of the mess that is the manner in which NFL rookies are paid. Under the current system, players are paid over the first three-to-six years of their careers based primarily on when they were drafted. If a top-five pick flames out, he keeps the [...]
Bears didn't take Hester's holdout threat seriously
He didn't posture and break off talks, as Tommie Harris did. He didn't hiss and moan like a child and threaten to blow off training camp, as Brian Urlacher did. Even on the spring day when Robbie Gould - a terrific kicker but, still, a kicker — cashed in for a cool $15.5 million, Devin Hester didn't whine publicly about the farcical injustice that his own contract had become wrote ...

Hester the Holdout
Bears training camp has opened and the electrifying Devin Hester is a no show. Hester is still under his rookie contract where he is only averaging $500,000 over the remaining 2 years. Bears stunned by Hester holdout
Posted by ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert AP Photo/M. Spencer Green Devin Hester has 11 returns for TDs in two seasons. Hold Out, Hester.
I hereby plant myself firmly in Devin Hester's camp as he engages in a training camp holdout that has the distinction of being completely valid. Here's how Hester puts it: "You should pay me like I'm one of a kind,'' Hester said. "It's like dating a girl. When you find somebody who is real special, you're going to do whatever it takes to keep her. You might cut back on what you're giving ...
