Diamondbacks Batting Woes Solved

Their big trade acquisition? Tony Clark. He’s slugging just over .300. All right!
Okay, he had a pretty freakin’ awesome 2005 year with a 1.002 OPS and crushing 30 home runs, but then the Diamondbacks found a Conor Jackson tucked away in the glove compartment, and he’s a rather good first baseman, I’d say.
I know, I know. This wasn’t the Diamondbacks’ idea of fixing everything. (Getting Justin Upton a fake ID so he thinks he’s not actually 20 years old is one idea.) But, sheesh. Trading for Tony Clark? ...

Holy crap, as if the Richie Sexson deal wasn't enough to get you excited today, then get ready for Tony Clark's homecoming trade that sends him back to Phoenix.
Under his contract with the Padres, Clark would have received $500,000 from the Padres if traded, but he waived that clause in order to complete the trade.
Now that's desperation to get out of San Diego! "Hey, current team that is under-performing. I'll give you $500,000 to trade me to a team that is also under-performing, but less so." ...

... The Arizona Diamondbacks bolstered their anemic offense today by trading for former Dback, current Padre, and solution to all problems, Tony Clark. Yes, Tony Clark who this season has amassed a line of .239/.374/.307 in a whopping 88 at bats. Now considering that TC played at Petco Park where the grass is huge and nothing leaves the yard, his slugging should come up a bit at the friendly confines of Chase Field and also with increased oppostunities. Having said all that, this is the guy the Snakes thought would be the answer to all of their woes? Another ...

That’s not to say the site might not have some highly credible sources, the sort that would prefer to communicate with the mysterious “Bronx Bomber” than say, Peter Gammons or Ken Rosenthal. Diamondbacks Reacquire Tony Clark

The Padres and division rival Arizona agreed on a long rumored deal that ships pinch hitter Tony Clark to his former team in exchange for farmhand hurler, Evan Scribner. Scribner, 22, is 2-4 with a 1.64 ERA and 9 saves. The switch hitting Clark should see much more playing time at first in addition to his role of the bench. The deal was finalized after Clark agreed to waive the $500,000 assignment bonus that would have been paid by the Padres. Although Clark grew up in San Diego, it could be said the the switch hitter is going home. Clark makes his year round home in the ...
