After reviewing video of the fight, it’s pretty clear St. Pierre’s cornerman Phil Nurse had some Vaseline on his hands when he rubbed St. Pierre’s shoulders, back and chest between the first and second rounds. That would give St. Pierre an advantage against Penn, who would have a harder time using his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills to sinch in a submission hold.
