Dodgers Interested in Inge
Published 3/1/2008 by McFleece at MLB Fleece Factor
The Los Angeles Dodgers have contacted the Detroit Tigers about 3B/OF/C Brandon Inge, according to Danny Knobler of MLive.com. Knobler writes that Inge would compete for the 3rd base job in L.A. along with Nomar Garciaparra and Andy Laroche.   Knobler also points out that new Dodgers manager Joe Torre and third base coach Larry Bowa are both strong backers of Inge.  If the Dodgers do acquire Inge, however, it will be another huge blow to the career of youngster Andy Laroche, who the Dodgers seem to be holding back at every possible chance they get. There is no hint of what the Dodgers may have offered the Tigers in return (or if it even got that far), but ...

Dodgers appear interested in Tigers’ Inge

Dodgers appear interested in Tigers’ Inge Yea...but what about whole Andy Garciaparra act? The Los Angeles Dodgers have contacted the Tigers about Inge, and while talks do not seem to have progressed far, a baseball official familiar with the situation said the Dodgers remain interested in making a deal. Inge would play third base for the Dodgers, who did not have a full-time third baseman last season and have been trying to decide between veteran Nomar Garciaparra and rookie Andy LaRoche this spring. New Dodger manager Joe Torre is familiar with Inge from his time in the ...

Dodgers Appear To Be Interested In Inge
Published 3/1/2008 by Josh Jones at The Transaction Guy
Danny Knobler of Michigan Live reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers front-office has contacted the Detroit Tigers about possibly acquiring third-baseman Brandon Inge.  Inge requested a trade earlier this off season after his club traded for perennial all-star Miguel Cabrera, but hasn’t found a new home, mainly because of his $19.1M still owed to him. This doesn’t make much sense for the Dodgers, as they already have veteran Nomar Garciaparra and 23-year old Andy LaRoche competing for the spot.  This rumor should be shot down, as I can’t see the Dodgers taking on more salary and acquiring a player at a position where they don’t seem to have ...

Sabean: Things aren't going as fast as we're expecting. Colletti: Under the radar. Patience. That's how we have to do this. Sabean: You didn't trade a single prospect this winter. Not a one. I understand the art of subtlety, but cripes, man. If your plan is to sabotage a farm system, you're going about it an interesting fashion. Colletti: If it makes you happy, I'll ...

That's Saturday Night Linkaliciousness... Jason Marquis says he wants to be traded if he doesn't make the Cubs rotation. The problem is, he's owed $18 million the next two years, and he's not very good. Now, he had a decent ERA and ERA+ last year, and he's just 29...but his peripherals have never been any good, and his 2006 season was a disaster. PECOTA projects him as a 5+ ERA guy the next few years, which sounds about right to me. The Cubs would probably be best served shuffling him off to a team that feels it needs a vet arm for the rotation to compete right now, shed the salary, and get something useful in return. That would certainly seem to be a better option ...

Inge Watch: Again with the Dodgers Rumors?
Published 3/14/2008 by Ian Casselberry <info@blessyouboys.com> at Bless You Boys: Front Page Posts
According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers haven't been in contact recently about a potential deal for Brandon Inge.  And that lack of communication might indicate differing opinions within the Dodgers' organization on Inge's value.   ...

My Picks: NL West

1. Arizona Diamondbacks: Arizona won the West last year by bizarrely outpacing their Pythagorean record by 11 games, but they shouldn't need to do that again this year. Dan Haren should give a huge boost to an already-good rotation, and several of their young hitters should take steps forward (I'm betting on Chris Young and Stephen Drew to do so). If they can get anything from Justin Upton or Randy Johnson, they could run away with the division. Even if not, their pitching staff should get them to the playoffs. The D'backs should have one of the more interesting bullpens in the league, by the way: Juan Cruz is one of my favorite ...

Inge trade talks involving the Dodgers

It looks like the Detroit Tigers may have finally found a market for third baseman Brandon Inge. The Los Angeles Dodgers recently contacted the Tigers about acquiring the third baseman but talks have not really progressed, at this point. Dodgers manager Joe Torre and third base coach Larry Bowa are very fond of Inge and would love to have him stabilize their hot corner.
