Pending Pinstripes — ... Update (12:51 AM):  According to this ESPN Deportes article,  Carlos Perez has signed with the Braves for 600,000, so either he took less money to go to the Braves, or the rumors of an 850,000 dollar bonus offer from the Yankees were not true.  It also mentions that the Yankees signed shortstop Anderson Félix for 500,000, so he’ll be the first on the confirmed signings list.  It also mentions that the bidding for Inoa went even higher than the 4.25 million he received from Oakland, but he stayed with them due to his comfort and familiarity with Beane and ...

Reds Offered Inoa a Ton
Dunn and DunnerESPN.com Inoa and his parents turned down more lucrative offers from the Cincinnati Reds and the Texas Rangers due to Oakland's positive results developing young pitchers. The Reds offered a $5 million signing bonus and a major league contract, while the Rangers offered $5.2 million, according to Inoa. Holy crap the Reds are ballsy. What's next the Reds offer Sabathia 250 million over 2 years? Honestly I don't think its going to be that big of a reach to think that Walt Jocketty will be trying to sign some big time free ...

Do Inoa? I’ve never even met her!
Oaktown Awesomer's: An Oakland A's Blog — The rumors are finally official, 16 year old Michel Inoa of the Dominican Republic signed today with the Oakland A’s for $4.25 million. A right handed pitcher, Inoa stands in at 6’7’’, 205 pounds and likely isn’t done growing yet. A good report from Kiley McDaniel of Saber Scouting highlights Inoa’s fastball which has hit 96 mph on occasion and a “curveball that already flashes above average”, incredible for a 16 year old. The other thing that caught my eye was McDaniel’s comparisons to Rick Porcello, the Tigers 2007 1st round ...

sportsyenta.blogspot.com 7/2/2008 — Can you recall the last time we had a 20 game loser in Major League baseball? I can. It was Mike Maroth, who went 9-21 for the Detroit Tigers in 2003. Fitting, isn't it, that Maroth did so for a Tigers team that went 43-119. I still say wow whenever I see that record. A few things must go right (er, wrong?) for a pitcher to lose 20 games. First, he must be pretty bad. Maroth has since been ...
