Don Shula: Spygate would mar Pats' undefeated season
Don Shula, the coach of the only perfect season in NFL history, believes the Patriots have a legitimate shot at running the table and joining his '72 Dolphins in going undefeated in the regular season and playoffs. But if they can pull it off, Shula insists the NFL needs to place an asterisk next to the Patriots in the record books because Bill Belichick got caught cheating in the Spygate ... [link]

I agree that Ken Tremendous is the man in most respects, but I also think Don Shula is on that short list of people who have accomplished so much in their fields that if they want to express an opinion in that field, their opinion deserves respect, even if we don't agree with it. In the NFL, that short list would have to include Shula, Jim Brown, Chuck Bednarik, Jerry Rice, maybe a few others. That doesn't mean you have to agree with everything those people say, but it does mean that you should disagree respectfully, not by calling them "turds."

As a society, we don't respect our elders enough.  This much we know.

Although according to T. Soprano, "those who want respect give respect."  When Shula says that the Pats deserve an asterisk, he should know that it will sound like sour grapes ... and incur the wrath of the Ken Tremendouses of the world.

This is not the way to preserve the '72 Dolphins' legacy.  In fact, it's the opposite.

Why did Shula feel the need to say anything? He hasn't in years past when teams were approaching perfection. Hell they aren't even close.

Don you are a bitter old dude. Why don't you and Dan sell some Hurricane windows or Leather Gloves and STFU.

That tells you the seriousness or significance of what they found. I guess you got the same thing as putting an asterisk by Barry Bonds' home run record. I guess it will be noted that the Patriots were fined and a No.1 draft choice was taken away during that year of accomplishment.'' Source: New York Daily News Related: ...

Don Shula Says Patriots Perfect Record Should Have Asterisk

All I can do is take it upon myself to think about what my job is, and my job is to play football and help this team keep on winning. That's all I can really focus on. I can't control opinions.
