Hamilton as a Hero? Allow Me To Retort
Published 7/17/2008 by Andy Lenartz at Bugs & Cranks
My colleague Spencer Kyte has written an article critical of my criticism of the media attention and hero status being heaped upon Josh Hamilton. Mr. Kyte makes a good case about what a remarkable achievement it is for Hamilton to have recovered from the depths to which he sank, and how difficult that must have been. I seem to have made my position too easy to argue with how I lined it out, I should have taken a lessen from Barak Obama by never stating a position clearly and avoiding listing details. Makes it much more difficult for people to argue ...

Willie Mays Doesn’t Shake Hands With Crackheads, (or thinks Josh Hamilton is the tooth fairy)
Published 7/18/2008 by David Chalk at Bugs & Cranks
I can never resist getting in one last lick on a dead horse — so while we’ve all been riveted by Kyte and Lenartz’s back and forth about Josh “Winehouse” Hamilton and his portrayal in the media of late — I have to throw this out there. I think Hef of Major League Jerk lassoed this bit of the intros of the All-Star Game. It certainly looks like Josh Hamilton tries to get some love from Willie Mays, but the Hall Of Famer completely ignores him. Might this have anything to do with The Say Hey ...

10 Things I Learned This Week

... 2. But Not Everybody Does There are people out there who don't think Josh Hamilton is a good story or an inspiring story or a story worth telling at all. Well pfffffft to them! He's overcome a crack addiction to make it back to the Majors. Beyond that, he's clobbering the baseball. In our world where we're hit with so much bad news and so many horrible stories, can't we just enjoy this one without picking it to shreds? Get the latest B&C take on the situation here and here and here . 3. Why Did I Install PokerStars? Seriously, I have done pretty much ...

From the Pages of Bugs & Cranks

... like this: That certainly does not cover every base or all the ups and downs that have transpired in the life of Joshua Holt Hamilton from his start as a high school phenom to a Major League All-Star, but it gives you the gist. I'm not here to trumpet his return anyway. I'm bringing this B&C story here to iBlog because of the rash of comments and criticism Hamilton's story has gotten in the last few weeks, not only when myself and fellow B&C writer Andy Lenartz went back and forth (and back again ) over his standing - not to mention a hilarious new post ...

ESPN & M.L.B guilty of exploitation

Is it just me or is Major League Baseball and media whores ESPN milking Josh Hamilton’s story for all that it’s worth? How many more times per game do I have to be reminded by Joe Buck about Hamilton’s past drug abuse? Joe, if you need something to talk about then why not tell us about the fact that you don’t even like baseball anymore.

Josh Hamilton: That, Friends, Was an Incredible Display

Sure, he didn't win the Home Run Derby. That title went to some Canadian former MVP that plays in the baseball hinterlands up in Minnesota. But what a show Josh Hamilton put on in the first round of Monday night's derby. I'm pretty sure Chris Berman messed his pants. The story has by now been sufficiently expounded upon , but in a time when every athlete is under the scrutiny of cheating in ...

I hate to interrupt your Josh Hamilton Lovefest, but….

Amidst all of the Hamilton fawning, one major thing seems to be overlooked. This is not Jon Lester or Doug Davis recovering from cancer to pitch again, this is not Tony Gonzalez saving someone from choking. This is a recover ing crack addict, who ...
