Triple A

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees beat the Buffalo Bisons by a score of 6-5 because of a walk off home run by Brett Gardner in the bottom of the 9th inning. Starting for Scranton was Kei Igawa and he gave up 4 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings of work but 1 run was unearned because of a fielding error by Shelley Duncan. Igawa did strike out 9 batters. Replacing Igawa in the 7th inning was Chris Britton and he gave up 1 hit and no runs. Sean Henn pitched the 7th inning and gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit. Edwar Ramirez pitched a perfect 9th for the win.

The hitting stars worth mentioning for Scranton were first baseman Juan Miranda, DH Shelley Duncan and center-fielder Brett Gardner. Miranda went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s. After a mini slump, Shelley Duncan had a nice bounce back game going 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi’s a long with a big, home, run, BOMB. The BIGGEST hitting star of the game was Brett Gardner who, BLASTED a home run BOMB over the right-field fence for the game winner. Gardner went 1 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi.

Double A

The Trenton Thunder beat the Binghamton Mets by a score of 8-5 after breaking the game wide open in the 8th and 9th inning. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was Chase Wright and he gave up 4 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings but 1 run was unearned because of a throwing error by shortstop Ramiro Pena. Replacing Wright in the 6th inning was Michael Gardner and he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings for the win. David Robertson struck out 4 batters in 1.2 innings for his second save.

The hitting stars worth mentioning for Trenton were first baseman Cody Ehlers, left-fielder Colin Curtis and catcher P.J. Pilittere. Ehlers went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a big, home, run, BOMB. Curtis went 4 for 5 with 3 runs scored and 1 rbi and is batting over .300 now. Pilittere went 2 for 5 with 2 rbi’s.

The Tampa Yankees lost to the Fort Myers Miracle by a score of 8-1. Starting for Tampa was Ivan Nova and he did not pitch a good game giving up 6 earned runs on 7 hits in 4.2 innings. He gave up all 6 runs in the 5th inning and got the loss. Replacing Nova was Wilkins Arias and he gave up 2 earned runs on 5 hits in 3.1 innings. J.B. Cox pitched a scoreless 9th inning giving up 2 hits. The hitting star of the night for Tampa was first baseman Kevin Smith who went 0 for 2 with 2 walks and 1 rbi.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs beat the Savannah Sand Gnats by a score of 4-0. Starting for the RiverDogs was Zachary McAllister and he gave up no runs on 2 hits in 6 innings for the win. Wilkins De La Rosa followed McAllister and pitched a scoreless 7th inning giving up 1 hit. Jason Stephens pitched a scoreless .2 of an inning but he did give up 2 walks. Craig Heyer pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and gave up 1 hit for his first save. The hitting stars worth mentioning for the RiverDogs were short-stop Carmen Angelini and catcher Jesus Montero. Angelini went 1 for 4 with 2 rbi’s but struck out 3 times and Montero went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi.
