The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees won a low scoring game over the Buffalo Bisons by a score of 2-1. Starting for Scranton was Steven White and he gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits in 6 innings for a no decision. He struck out 7 batters. Replacing White to start the 7th inning was Sean Henn and he threw a perfect 7th for the win. Scott Strickland replaced Henn to start the 8th inning and pitched .02 of an inning, gave up no runs on 1 hit. Heath Phillips faced 1 batter in the 8th for the out. Jose Veras pitched the 9th inning for the save giving up no runs on 1 hit. He has 7 saves. The hitting stars of the night for Scranton worth mentioning were third baseman Cody Ransom, DH Juan Miranda and center-fielder Brett Gardner. Ransom went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored. Miranda went 2 for 4 with 1 rbi and Gardner went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored along with a walk.

The Trenton Thunder beat the New Britian Rock Cats by a score of 8-1. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was Daniel McCutchen and he gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit in 7 innings for the win. He also had 11 strike outs. Amazing. His era for the year now stands at 1.42. Replacing McCutchen to start the 8th inning was Joshua Schmidt and he gave up 2 earned runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. The hitting stars of the night for Trenton worth mentioning were short-stop Ramiro Pena, DH Matt Carson and catcher P.J. Pilittere. Pena went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Carson went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Pilittere went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s.

The Tampa Yankees beat the Fort Myers Miracle by a score of 3-2. Starting for Tampa was Michael Dunn and he gave up 2 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings for the no decision. One run was unearned because of a throwing error by short-stop Eduardo Nunez. Replacing Dunn to start the 7th inning was Mark Melancon and he gave up no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Jose Valdez pitched a perfect 9th for the win. The hitting stars of the night for Tampa worth mentioning were left-fielder James Cooper and catcher Kyle Anson. Cooper went 2 for 4 with 2 runs and is batting .425 on the year. Anson went 1 for 3 and 1 rbi and is batting .314 for the year.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs lost to the Columbus CatFish by a score of 6-3. Starting for the RiverDogs was Lance Pendleton and he gave up 2 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings for the loss. One run was unearned because of a fielding error by second baseman Justin Snyder. Replacing Pendleton to start the 4rth was Wilkins De La Rosa and he gave up 0 earned runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Following De La Rosa was Craig Heyer and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. Gabe Medina pitched the last 3 innings and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits but 2 runs were unearned because of a fielding error by third baseman Brandon Laird and a throwing error by first baseman Wady Rufino.The hitting stars of the night for the RiverDogs were second baseman Justin Snyder and left fielder Austin Krum. Snyder went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi. Krum went 2 for 2 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a walk.
