The Trenton Thunder lost to the New Britain RockCats by a score of 7-4 in 12 innings. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was Phil Coke and he gave up 3 earned runs on 11 hits in 6 innings of work for the no decision. That’s a lot of hits to give up. Replacing Coke to start the 7th inning was David Robertson and he gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit in 3.2 innings but Eric Wordekemper let Robertson’s runner in to score. Eric Wordekemper gave up no earned runs on 2 hits in .2 of an inning. Michael Gardner gave up 3 earned runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings for the loss. The hitting stars for Trenton were first baseman Cody Ehlers and right-fielder Matt Carson. Ehlers went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a home run. Carson went 2 for 6 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi.

The Tampa Yankees beat Clearwater Threshers by a score of 9-8 in 11 innings. Starting for Tampa was Ryan Pope and he gave up 8 runs on 8 hits in 4.1 innings. Ouch. Three runs were unearned because of a fielding error by second baseman Damon Sublett and a throwing error by third baseman Braedyn Pruitt. Replacing Pope was Edgar Soto and he gave up no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Grant Duff came on to pitch the 8th, 9th and 10th inning and gave up no runs on 2 hits. Jose Valdez started the 11th inning and was perfect for the win. The hero of the game was replacement shortstop Luis Nunez who singled in right-fielder Jay Miller in the bottom of the 11th. The hitting stars worth mentioning for Tampa were second baseman Damon Sublett, short-stop Eduardo Nunez, catcher Kyle Anson and first baseman Kevin Smith. Sublett went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored. Edurado Nunez went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi’s along with a big, home, run, BOMB. Kevin Smith went 3 for 5 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s and Anson went 2 for 6 with 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s along with a big, powerful, huge, home, run, BOMB.

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs lost to the Columbus CatFish by a score of 7-4. Starting for the RiverDogs was Noel Castillo and he gave up 4 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings for the loss. Three runs were unearned because of a throwing error by first baseman Wady Rufino and a throwing error by shortstop Carmen Angelini. Replacing Castillo to start the 6th inning was Chace Vacek and he gave up 2 runs on 2 hits but both runs were unearned because of a fielding error by shortstop Carmen Angelini and a throwing error by center fielder Abraham Almonte. Jesse Hoover replaced Vacek to start the 8th and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in 2 innings. The hitting stars of the night for the RiverDogs were first baseman Wady Rufino and short stop Carmen Angelini. Rufino went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run. Angelini went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored.
